Misaq grew from years of helping families navigate one of life’s most meaningful decisions: finding a suitable marriage match for a son or daughter.
Our journey began with a mother’s idea, a small community, and a desire to help.
-
Around 2017 — A mother’s initiative
Around 2017, our co-founder envisioned a private, close-knit group where families within her community could help one another find suitable matches for their children.
She started a WhatsApp group, bringing together families who valued discretion, shared traditions, and parental involvement. It offered a familiar setting in which parents could make introductions and explore possibilities within their community.
-
A growing community — Afwaj-e-Milan
As the initiative developed, a WhatsApp group named Afwaj-e-Milan was launched. More families joined, and the task of organising profiles and coordinating introductions became increasingly demanding.
What began as a personal effort was growing into something that needed more structure.
-
Lessons from real family experiences
Working with families revealed needs that a messaging group alone could not adequately address.
Profiles became harder to organise and keep up to date. Families needed greater care around how identities and contact details were shared. Occasional misunderstandings and disagreements also highlighted the importance of clearer communication and boundaries.
These experiences shaped the questions behind Misaq:
How could families explore a potential match while retaining more control over their personal information? How could parents remain involved while ensuring that the person seeking marriage had a voice? And how could introductions become easier to manage without losing the personal care that started it all?
-
Building Misaq together
Those questions led to conversations between our co-founders—a husband-and-wife team—about creating a dedicated platform.
Her experience of facilitating introductions helped identify the practical needs of families. Together, they began translating those lessons into a more structured digital experience.
That was the beginning of Misaq as an app: a platform shaped by the realities of family-led matchmaking.
-
Where we are today
Misaq is now nearing completion, bringing this experience into a dedicated website and mobile app.
The platform is being built to support:
- Family participation: parents and designated representatives helping manage the search.
- Organised profiles: structured biodata and support for families managing more than one candidate.
- Privacy controls: more considered sharing of personal information, contact details, and supporting documents.
- Moderated communication: a more structured setting for conversations and introductions.
- The candidate’s voice: space for the person seeking marriage to participate in decisions about their future.
- Bilateral proposals: a process that allows both sides to express and consider interest.
Each part reflects a need encountered during the journey from community introductions to a dedicated platform.

What continues to guide us
Our tools have evolved, but our purpose remains rooted in that first initiative: helping individuals and families seek suitable marriage matches with dignity, discretion, and care.
We believe family involvement and individual choice belong together. Technology should support thoughtful introductions, while leaving the decisions with the people whose lives they affect.
From a mother’s initiative to a shared family effort—this is the Misaq journey.
